Designing With Web - Part 3: week 1
Enable access to basic services and natural resources to the poorest
population
Group 26
Project 1: Volunt'here
Context
when? where? who? why?
There are more than a dozen associations in Paris which help the
homelesses by carrying out various missions. Among the best known are:
la croix rouge, les restos du coeur and l'armée du salut.
These associations require a great deal of mobilization from volunteers
to be able to deploy at any time to help these destitute people and
sometimes they lack the resources to do so.
The aim of our project is to put individuals that have time but maybe
not the envy to engage themselves in a long-term program in touch with
these associations on an ad hoc basis by geolocalising in real time the
missions in which they can participate near where they are.
Target
for whom?
We want to reach targets on two levels: on the one hand, citizens who
wish to help on an ad hoc basis when they have the time and according to
the mission rather than committing themselves on a regular basis to a
particular NGO, and on the other hand, associations that would put their
needs for each mission in real time.
Service offered
what? how?
With the application Volunt'here, associations will be able to post in
real time their volunteering missions and their location as well as
details of the mission. Volunteers, for their part, will be able to
chose among the daily-updated missions near them which are the ones that
matches the more to their envy and time.

Homeless Plus: Homeless Plus is a free mobile application that allows the
geolocation of homeless people in order to provide them with direct
help. This application aims to fight against social exclusion. The
principle is simple: whether you can donate or not, just getting close
to a homeless person, geolocating them with their agreement, will
enable people in the neighbourhood, associations, shopkeepers and
communities to help them.
The difference with our application is
that it is the citizens who locate the homeless but it is the
associations that help them. Our application, on the other hand,
arises from a need of associations for particular missions in which
citizens can participate.
-
Entourage: This application enables citizens wishing to participate in the
social inclusion of the homeless to propose and participate in
specific solidarity missions.
The main difference with our
application is that associations do not intervene in this approach,
only individuals propose these missions to other individuals.

This article points to the attitude we adopt when we come across a
homeless person: ignorance. Whether it is due to a lack of time,
because we do not know how to help or because there are too many
requests to be able to satisfy them all, it is more than ever
necessary to develop an application that facilitates and frames the
help to the most deprived people.

This video follows the journey of a student who created the
association "une couverture pour l'hiver" (a blanket for the winter)
to help the homeless during the winter period by distributing objects
necessary for their survival. She insists on the fact that ignoring
these people is a profound lack of respect and solidarity and regrets
that her action cannot be deployed on a larger scale. With our
application, volunteers could help her to deploy her initiative more
widely.
Project 2: The Hope Market
Context
when? where? who? why?
France had 8.8 million poor people in 2016, according to INSEE. In other
words, 8.8 million people were living below the monetary poverty line -
which therefore amounts to 1026 euros per month - in 2016. In 2016, the
poverty rate was 14%, down 0.2 points from 2015. Therefore, our
project's aim is to help this part of the population with basic services
such as hygenic protection and natural ressources such as food and
beverages.
To implement this, we want to create a website that serves as a platform
for professionals and individuals so that they can regularly offer food
baskets (and other daily products like hygiene goods) to associations
that would redistribute them.
Target
for whom?
Even though the final user is a person in need, the real targets here
are the non profit organizations that will get what they need to provide
help.
Service offered
what? how?
With this website you will be able to give baskets according to your
location, your availabilities and your time. All this information will
have to be completed by the giver in order to make the system work, so
organization can get what they need the most at the right time, in the
right place.

collecting founds.

Especially during the crisis, people tend to show more solidarity to
people in need and people that are the most affected by the pandemic
and its consequences. Different actions can be lead : doing tutoring
sewing masks, preparing meals, finding clothes, calling isolated
people, buying hygiene products. The idea of giving parcels to people
in need with everything they struggle to have these days is something
in the spirit of the times. People, especially individuals, actually
want to help and seek for means to do so. See

Hygiene is a basic service that lots of people lack of. However, it is
very important in order to be healthy and socialy integrated. This is
why giving health and hygiene products to homelesses people is a mean
to help them escape poverty and to stay healthy. See
